ACEC of Vermont's/Vermont BGS Facilities Technical Workshop

Please join us for this informative technical workshop that is being offered in coordination with Vermont Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS) leadership, The Association of General Contractors of Vermont, and The American Institute of Architects (Vermont Chapter).
The workshop will be held Thursday, December 12th from 11:00 am- 4 pm as a Hybrid Event, both at 40 IDX Drive in South Burlington and via Zoom. There will be networking and a catered lunch, 4 - 50 minute education sessions, and a 4 PDH certificate will be provided to attendees that complete the training.

This year’s Workshop will be comprised of four diverse presentations including:
- Build-to-Suit Project Delivery Method
Presenters: Vermont BGS, ReArch Company
The State has considered and pursued the Build-to-Suit project delivery method for three recent projects. This session will discuss aspects which lead to this option being attractive, including impact on bond rating, schedule, land purchase and legislation.
- 2024 VT CBES - Implementation Challenges and Solutions
Presenters: Vermont BGS, Freeman French Freeman, ReArch Company
An updated version of the State Commercial Building Energy Standards (CBES) was enacted in the summer of 2024. This session will describe the immediate impact on two recent VT BGS projects, including the detailed changes in requirements and effect on project cost. The impact on both existing and new buildings will be covered.
- MERP – Transition from Assessment to Implementation
Presenter: Vermont BGS, TBD Energy Auditors
The year-long assessment phase of the Municipal Energy Resilience Program concluded in September with the completion of energy assessments for over 500 municipal buildings throughout the State. The implementation grant phase is now in progress; once grants are awarded, municipalities will begin working with the building design and construction community to make making energy resilience improvements. This presentation will cover lessons learned in the assessment phase and review the types of building improvement projects which are expected to occur.
- VT BGS Projects & Contracting Methods
Presenter: Vermont BGS
The VT BGS Design & Construction Division typically has hundreds of ongoing projects in all shapes and sizes managed by their hard-working team of project managers. This session with provide an overview of the Team, review quantity and type of projects included in the Capital Bill for the upcoming year, and describe what, when and why different contracting methods are used.
As an ACEC National recognized Regional Continuing Education Provider (RCEP), ACEC of Vermont will be providing workshop attendees with 4.0 approved Vermont professional development hours (PDHs) for the workshop.
